On 1991 cultural society “Acerra Nostra” made Pulcinella Museum.
Situated in the Baronial Castle, the noble building belonged to the Earls of Acerra, Pulcinella Museum is unique in its kind in Italy.
Inside museum you can find an Historical Archive, a Library , a Video Room, twelve rooms of exposition, the ancient Stable and Kitchen and the beautiful Monument to Pulcinella.
During your tour you can find the manifold birth and characters of the masker:

• The journey of Pulcinella and the Italian Commedia dell’Arte
• The birth of Pulcinella
• Acerra and Pulcinella
• The dress, the mask and the horn
• Pulcinella and the Moon
• The hunger Pulcinella and Macaroni

In the rooms you can see:

• original documents around popular, literary and theatrical traditions about Pulcinella
• old and modern original works of art
• dresses, masks and photo of the actors that played Pulcinella
• rare objects and works of the local handicraft

In museum there is theatrical machine, gabbiotto, copy of original in XVI century. There are also a presepe of Pulcinella and a real puppet theatre. There is a room dedicated to Massimo Troisi, greatest interpreter of Pulcinella in the film “ The Journey of Capitan Fracassa.” The section of the Folklore and Rural Culture collects tools and materials of the rural job. You can find these rooms:

• The folk life and house
• The folk knowledge : medicine, botany, entomology
• The rural job and handicraft
• The farm cart and tools
• The kitchen and wood-burning oven

It is possible a reservation for conducted tour with a real masker Pulcinella: the comedian Carmine Coppola, the Last Pulcinella.
